The world of CD printers
CD printers, which can print labels directly onto CD's are becoming more and more popular and can now be found in a number of forms.
Everyday printers
Many everyday printers now come with the option to print to CD's. These printers can print reasonably high quality labels onto suitable CD's and are available fairly cheaply.
The downside of this form of CD printer is its slow speed, which becomes a major problem if you intend to print a large quantity of CD's, rather then just wanting to print a few. However, for those who are pressed for money or only plan to print on a few CD's at a time this is a reasonable option.
Automated CD/DVD printers
These printers will burn the CD and then print the label. You merely place the CD's in the printer and then leave it running and it will do the rest. These are the very best CD printers as they are fast, require little effort and can print a large number of CD's. One well known automated CD/DVD printer is the Primera Bravo II, which is of a high quality.
However, this form of CD printer is also very expensive, and is only worth purchasing for those who are serious about printing on large numbers of CD's.
Specialist CD/DVD printers
There are a number of specialist CD/DVD printers, but generally these are less popular than the other two printer types due to their specificity and lack of functionality. However, it could still be worth looking at if you require a higher quality print then a normal printer, but cannot afford an automated printer.
The choice
In the end the choice needs to come down to your situation, your financial situation, and what you need the printer for.
