Epson printers under review
Epson produces a wide range of printers, which generally fall into three categories: inkjet, laser and multifunctional printers.
Inkjet printers
Epson's inkjet printers are generally highly ranked and perform well. They are considered to be reliable and cost effective.
The Epson R250 printer, which costs around $200 prints at a high DPI rating of 5760 x 1440dpi, and prints at a speed of about 20 pages per minutes and tray size of 80 sheets.
For this price it is well worth considering as a basic printer for the home or home office if your computer runs Windows 98 or Mac OS 9 or later and has a USB port, although for those who want to do a large amount of printing a laser printer may be more effective.
Laser printers
Epson's laser printers are less well rated by users than their ink jet printers, but they can still perform well.
The Epson EPL-6200L laser printer prints in black and white and costs around $300. It prints at 20 pages a minute and prints at 600 dpi.
However, despite the cheapness of this printer it is probably worth spending more and getting one of Epson's higher quality laser printers as such as the Epson Aculaser AL-C1100 which has received much more positive user feedback.
Multifunctional printers
Multifunctional printers combine printers, scanners, photocopies and often fax machines. Epson has generally performed well in this market.
The Epson Stylus RX-530 multi-function can print, copy and scan at 20 pages per minutes and 5760 x 1440 dpi and only costs $300. This makes it a reasonable quality multifunctional printer. It is a reasonable size and well worth considering for the home or home office.
Epson also sells a number of cheaper, lower quality multifunctional printers for those who can't afford the $300 price tag.
The bottom line
Epson printers are generally of a reasonable quality and it is worth considering purchasing one for your use.
